Six of the best health and wellness retreats in Australia – for every budget

Self care is fast becoming a popular practice, and thankfully it’s one that’s here to stay.

Boasting benefits such as improving our immunity, increasing positive thinking and making us less susceptible to stress, depression and anxiety, there’s no wonder more people than ever are prioritising themselves and investing in their health, from the inside out.

With the rise of self care we’ve seen an increase in people flocking to health and wellness retreats to recharge their batteries. What may have once been reserved for the rich and famous is no longer the case, with options available for every budget.

“People are increasingly aware that if we don’t look after ourselves, other areas of our lives can suffer. With more of us focused on improving our quality of life and embracing healthy lifestyles, this is trickling into our travel plans and even becoming the focus,” says health and wellness travel specialist, Trinity Scarf.

“The beauty about the rapid growth of this sector is that this also translates to a wider range of budgetary options. We have some world class options in Australia.”

If you’re thinking about taking some time out for you, we’ve rounded up some of our favourites to help narrow your search.

Quite possibly the epitome of health retreats, Gwinganna has it all.

The schedule each day includes such activities as; meditation, yoga, bush walks and educational talks from leading experts. And the good news is you can participate as little or as much as you like.

If you’d prefer you can take in the beautiful views from your roomswim at one of the two infinity pools or head for a stress relief treatment at their world-class spa during afternoon “Dreamtime”.

When it comes to food, you’re not going to feel like you’re missing out when it comes to the organic cuisine on offer – everything on your plate will be the freshest of seasonal, local, and organic wholefoods, including produce hand-picked and sourced from the Gwinganna garden.

Be prepared for absolutely no laptops or TV though, and there’s limited phone time – while it’s perfect for some enforced time to switch off, many do find this hard.
